Coffee bean w shan

 Hello Humans,

This is probably the last time for cafe-hopping with Shan after Monday morning driving lesson since our driving lesson is nearing the end. So anyway, this time round we visited Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at Holland Village! Walked around HV before settling down at Coffee Bean but we were too early on Monday so shops are either not open or not opening.

Shan's Salmon Wellington- It's a huge piece of Salmon wrapped with a puff with spinach inside! We didn't eat it immediately but once cut, you can see some hot steam coming out from it! And surprisingly, the puff wasn't like what I've imagined. I thought it would be oily and soggy but it's not! Instead the puff thingy is thin and it's crispy! So yes we kinda like it but it's a bit expensive at around $15.





My Omelette with bacon, cheese and mushroom! Ordered it partly because this is a breakfast set that comes with tea, haha. but it's not bad leh, much like those big breakfast just that everything is inside now. NOT BAD, though Shan's food is still nicer. HAHA.

And we decided to order a piece of Warm Chocolate Cake to end our meal there! Warm chocolate cake is so damn yummy!! Just that it's a little bit too sweet that the icing sugar on the top is a bit wasted cos we removed it. Love how it feels at each bite- like 暖在心里. Hee.

Love the feel in HV Coffeebean! It feels very comfortable, cozy, quiet and the outdoor seats feels a bit European. Actually I've thought of visiting it since the day I came HV with YQ. Imagine ordering something to munch on or a cup of hot tea, have a good read and there goes a perfect day! But sad to say that outdoor seats aren't that good cos you might not want to be second hand smoker... But anyway, I should just try it one fine day indoor cos their indoor seats are very good too. It can get quite cold inside and we were freezing. Oh yes I've to mention the toilet! It's quite well hidden so it's clean (: 

 

And say HI to TWG macaroons! I didn't know they are selling at $2 per piece, which I think it's considered cheaper to a lot of other brands. The flavours are pretty limited so we ordered Passion Fruit with Coconut (the purple one) and Kaya something. Not bad and satisfied my slight craving BUT I still prefer Pistachio macaroon that we ate in Europe (though I can just vaguely recall pistachio tastes nice).

The book cafe

Hello Humans,

Yes, it was cafe-hopping with Shan after our morning driving lesson again! This time round we visited THE BOOK CAFE! So far the photos not bad right? I mean, the place. Got ourselves settled down on the sofa seats and it feels so cozy at home! HAHA. Checked out their menu and they have quite a range of food like sandwiches, breakfast, pasta and even some Asian food! The lunch promotion caught our eyes but it's really much worth it. Just that the promotion only starts at 12pm and it was only 10.30. So......

We order a Tradition Apple Pie to share and just nuah and wait for 12pm! I know we damn zai. HAHA. But anyway, we wanted to order almond cake cos we always love almond. But too bad, almond cake is not available today and we were introduced to this lovely pie! IT IS NICE. Warm desserts are so yummy too! Love the crunchy tart, a bit sour apple filling and green apple and chocolate at the side! It was really a good try!

 

We finished the pie in no time. Walked around the cafe to pass our time and they have so many magazines for you to pick up and read/flip with your order in the cafe. They also have books which you can even buy them home. Not bad huh! And we come to realize that we can start ordering a main since we plan to have just one lunch promotion set. And so we made an order for this:

Egg Benedict with English Muffin with Rosti! I love this! The English Muffin is soft yet is crispy cos I guess they pan-fried it for a moment. And it's quite good of them to have a small rosti! :) YUMMS. And we requested the staff if it's okay for us to make our order for the lunch promotion first and they can serve us later when the time strikes 12. HAHA, the staff was kind enough to say okay and she's kinda friendly and polite (:

And our lunch promotion comes with:

Soup of the day plus 2 pieces of bread. You can order dessert if you prefer it over soup! We ordered soup cos we already tried apple pie.

Seafood Pasta which tastes not bad. I can't really recall the taste so it should be okay, not bad, but not too outstanding. HAHA. It's the more expensive dish and we prefer it over others so yes this is the one. Oh, the set comes with coffee or tea too (:

We sat in the cafe for almost 3 hours before heading somewhere else. This cafe really seems like a peaceful quiet one, with their pretty not bad food and staff and cozy environment. Oh ya, their toilet is super clean also, I feel like it's like in hotel hotel/clean shopping mall toilet. HAHA. I'm not sure whether I'd say the location is not really convenient but come to think of it, it is still okay. We took train to Tiong Bahru and took a bus 123 outside Tiong Bahru Plaza. It was just 6 stops and a few minutes walk, which I think is still acceptable and accessible. It'd be good if you can spare some time wandering around the place too. Probably I think that way cos I've not explore that part of Singapore. HAHA. The Book Cafe, I don't mind visiting it again! :D

Cafe hopping with shan (Letoile Cafe and Stranger's Reunion)

Hello Humans,

I'm still learning my driving and we have finally booked our practical test on 9 December! Though we couldn't book the "best" slot, I hope traffic in a Monday afternoon aren't going to be that bad! Cross our fingers and God bless you and please wish us luck. LOL.

So yes, we have been going for classes, sometimes in the morning as early as 7.30 or latest for us around 5. It can be very tiring for morning class cos it's hard to get out of the bed but you'll left the whole day to do whatever you'd loved to. The goods about evening class is that you can probably nuah earlier of the day but it's seems like a day wasted.

Okay, this is not the highlight of today's entry. It's about Food, Cafe-hopping!

We have been trying to visit cafes after our morning driving lessons and here are two of the cafes we went so far:

Letoile Cafe

I told you that I'll be visiting it again and I'm so glad that it opens on Monday! Cos quite a handful of cafes do not open on Monday and it can be quite distressful when I was searching for one.

Nymph of the Nile tea. Can't remember what's in it but I remember there's rose! (: So it was kinda soothing and I enjoyed the tea!

Closer look of Shan's seafood pasta. I ate a few mouth and it's pretty not bad. The portion was just nice for her I guess.

My Big Breakfast! Come to think about it actually the cost of Big Breakfast shouldn't be that high but somehow it feels good to have a hearty brunch like this. HAHA. I love the mushroom and the bacon aren't too fatty! Anyway I was hesitating what kind of egg to order since you can order omelette, sunny up, overeasy and scramble. I can't think of how overeasy egg looks like and hence I ordered it. Please tell me what's the different overeasy and sunny up! LOL.

And I love their curtain! HAHA.

It was raining and then drizzling when we were eating. The hot tea served us well and we were kinda of sleepy after the meal, with the kind of weather. Back to shop to work and that marks off the end of our cafe trip that day. But I can tell you I'll be there again, maybe to try something else on their menu, maybe cakes? HAHA. The meal costed us nearly $40, kinda expensive since both of us had proper meal plus a pot of tea. But I think their sweet-stuff are pretty pocket friendly and most importantly, I love the atmosphere.

Stranger's Reunion

So on the other morning where we ended our driving lesson at 9.10, we decided to visit Stranger's Reunion before heading back to work. HAHA, it's more like Shan going work and I go there to nuah/help out. X:

Our Order: Vanilla Ice Cream Waffle with Fresh Fruits and Fried Lotus Root Chips

The price aren't really friendly so we didn't order any mains or tea. Instead, we tried their waffle cos it seems like one of their must-try and initially I wanted to try Truffle fries but Shan suggested Fried Lotus Chips which kinda of reminded me that I wanted to try it too. HAHA. The waffle was pretty much okay, it wasn't hot but I guess we didn't eat it asap. The Fried Lotus Roots Chips kinda cheated our feeling. I mean it wasn't that nice. It was super ultra oily hence we got tired of it pretty soon. The portion was big but it comes with a huge price tag. I mean nearly $15 for lotus root? I can't remember the price of the items but these two end up to nearly $40.00. I'd rather go elsewhere for proper food huh!

They have Chinese painting hanging around the place. If you like it you can buy it! But again, it's art so you gonna pay a bit (since you should be able to appreciate it should be okay huh!)

I probably wouldn't be visiting the place any time soon cos the price aren't pocket friendly and seems like you should come with more people if you wanna try out more of their sides.

Hee, and the day didn't end off with that cos we had good meal for our grandma's birthday! TEEHEEE.

Bonding Session with Shan (Cafe hopping & movie date)

Hello Humans,

Shan and I have always wanted to do some cafe hopping and we finally started our cafe adventure with our first stop- The Orange Thimble last Sunday. It was around 10 plus when we reach Tiong Bahru and we could see crowds around the area. As we made our way toward The Orange Thimble, we spotted a coffee shop with a long queue. Customers were eating Hainanese curry chicken and pork chop if I am not mistaken. They (the food) look good! Seems pretty nice to have a eat-out-breakfast or get someone in the family out to take-away some hot-piping food for the family. So we walked past Tiong Bahru Bakery. It was full-house, packed with humans of different ages. We made the right choice and headed to The Orange Thimble, which is super peaceful from the outside as there is no single customer via the glass door. The photo above was taken when we left the cafe, hence there was someone in the photo.

It seems like a peaceful place to chillax, to chat with your friend, to enjoy a cup of tea and a book or whatever you do. There were 2 groups of people there when we reached the cafe. A couple was about to leave and the other big group seems like some editorial group having some informal meeting at the long table. Not bad, the cafe offers different types of tables that suite different groups of people. Like I've mentioned they have long table for big groups, or a sofa seats cos cozy time in the cafe or maybe a normal table and chairs if that's more of your preference for eating.

Somehow the both of us thought that the cafe is 2 stories but no, it is not. We settled down and ordered a Red Coffee Rib Stew with Pasta ($12.90) and a cup of tea ($5.90) to share. I gonna say I love the ribs cos the meat is so tender and there's no difficulties at all to eat the meat! The stew was kinda sweet but after you add just a bit of coffee, the taste changed and there's coffee-taste added to it. And it was great cos there wasn't much noise in the cafe, unlike Tiong Bahru Bakery.

Overall feel: The Orange Thimble seems to be a great place to just spend a peaceful day with yourself or some people. It seems pretty much that you're living in your own world. I love the food that I've ordered and tea can be refilled with hot water upon request. However, personally I feels that the range of food offered is slightly limited, that includes their dessert. But surely, I'd love to visit it again. (:

We planned to go Tiong Bahru Bakery as our second stop of the day since it is just next door and we would love to try more of their tarts. However the crowd on a weekend is a huge turn-off and hence we just nuahed in The Orange Thimble. HEEE. But to be fair, we had our lemon tart take-away from Tiong Bahru Bakery and ate it while we were waiting for our bus to town. I gonna say I love their lemon tart too! The lemon is sour! HAHA, I mean it's really appetizing and kind of nice to have a sour dessert. It actually taste nicer than those pastries that I've ordered during my last trip with Adele! So... I don't mind going there again to try out more of their tarts! (:

Overall feel: Taste is something that is simply too subjective. What you love may be hated by someone. I mean some of their food are so highly recommended but after tasting they can be okay okay for me. However I fell in love with the lemon tart and hence will not mind going back to try other tarts. But hey, visiting it on a weekend for me is a no-no if possible since it's way too crowded.

Another highlight of the day is probably our movie date too. We watched The Internship as much desired by Shan. Surprisingly, it's an awesome movie! I mean, I wasn't really interested in the movie but I don't mind watching it. But it was quite funny and a laughed quite a bit! And yeah, it also reminds its audience that when there's a way when there's a will. So don't give up too easily and some ridiculously options may actually turn out to be a fantastic one.

That's all. It would be great if we can have a monthly all-day-out bonding session with sis. HAHA.

I'm a happy girl on v-day

Hello Humans

I'm happy cos:
1) Received val-day present from bbdc that I pass my BTT
2) Pass final evaluation test on first attempt (without any revision! But, got try the practices lah)
3) Completed 5km run within 40mins and adds up to 6.3 within 55mins (well, that's for yesterday but I'm still happy)
4) Instead of 2day cny break, I'm having 8day cny break. *Clap clap* But not much difference actually.

Okay maybe these aren't really great or hard but whee, self-encouragement is good and important (:

It's a bit sian diao that FTT is on early April, that will certainly need more revision thing since it seems harder than btt and we didn't revise before our evaluation test today.

And happy valentines day people! ♥

So what if we're lonely souls on this day right, it can still turn out to be a good one!

it's another week

Hello Humans,

it's 八月初三now. Twelve more days to 中秋节. I'm very tempted to accept YT's invitation for Saturday 中秋节's celebration and hence I was urging HL and ZY to finish their assignment asap so that we can go together! Girls, please finish them or at least done up with most part of your assignment okay? (:

Yesterdays was supposed to collect my lele but due to shipment and customary delay, we can only collect it from 19th onward ): But the thing is we're not free to make a trip down to collect it any time soon. Lele, please guai guai wait for your mummy okay?

But anyway, Shan and I brought mum and godma to Chinatown for lunch! Introduced them the vegetarian restaurant that YT/XQ brought us to years ago! It was a good session- eating and chatting session. Mum revealed that she used to copy her classmate during spelling test and how her teacher would suan her when she kana caught. HAHA.Walked a bit before Shan and I left them.

Anyway, Shan and I had a rather expensive dinner- $30+ for 2 pax at Ion Orchard. But it was a good experience in that Japanese restaurant! The food is nice (I ordered fried pork and Shan ordered Salmon Soup) and I got to "fry" my own porky! It was another happy meal of that day since both of us like what we ordered (:

How fast is another week. Time is passing at a super fast rate.

I kinda have this love-hate relationship of my current lifestyle of nuahing, watch TV, out with family days followed by going to school. I've been neglecting the last part and going school is almost like a chore. ):

Oh well, I starred into computer screen for hours and days for my memo and finally I think it's done cos I simply feel sian doing it. I shall edit it and use it for my presentation. HAHA. Wait, maybe I should do more research for FYP so I have something to 交待 to my professor tomorrow. LOL.

Okay off I go, can't wait for Channel U program at 8pm cos it's freaking funny (:

Last week of holiday

Hello Humans.

yay that's me in my popo's pretty skirt which is older than me! HAHA. And yes, do visit Tekka Enterprises if you need to sell/buy gold!(:

Today is the last day of holiday for this vocation. I feel so sian that I have a 9.30am lecture to attend tomorrow. I wonder if I can wake up on time ): Arghh. And camping starts tomorrow, which I'm not sure what I'm gonna camp for except HS4016. Supposed to be planning timetable right now but I'm getting sian and sleepy ):

I'm still thinking whether to camp for COM mods and just continue with my minor. HAHA, is COM257 better or COM254 better? Seems like that COM254 (interpersonal communication) is much more useful though it seems to be easier to score for COM257. Should I camp for them? HMMM.

Anyway I didn't blog for a week! Last week of holiday was enjoyable!

Aunt's birthday celebration on 3rd Jan (Tues) by having a simple lunch and shopped around in town. Grandma saw a top which she likes but it's kind of expensive. We didn't buy it not because of the price, but the piece wasn't in its good condition. Bad me spotted a few threads coming off from the design.

Oh ya, I was in good mood and so treat them Cold Stone ice cream! :D

Shan and I went shopping at Jurong Point on 4th Jan (Wed)! It's quite a nice place to walk or get some bites! The two of us had billy bomber for lunch cos we were craving for the ribs! HAHA, and it happened to be Ribs and Chips (is it?) for the day (for it's 1-for-1) :D And so, I treated her cos I was the one who dragged her there. As usual, the food is nice. But the shop was like quite dim? We wondered if they were trying to save electricity. Oh well, the shop remains dark at night, with some candles lit up. HMMM. Anyway we shopped for CNY stuff and my lovely sister bought me a quite expensive dress! Whee, the benefit of being mei mei huh! She bought a dress for herself too! Great day spent with my dearest jiejie!

JB-ed with my parents on 5th Jan (Thurs). I finally had my curry fish head after weeks of craving! (: It's a super nice and cheap curry fish head from JB. I didn't ate much of the meat but I love the curry and the beancurd skin! And it's only RM35 for the curry fish head! Another purpose for JB trip was to look at CNY goodies. I didn't buy much cos it doesn't seem to be much cheaper in JB and there's still time to buy and eat! CNY is such a fattening season.

Dated Adele on 6th Jan (Fri) in town! Had cold stone ice cream before singing at *scape! Treated strawberry banana and NPM tried cheesecake flavor (: Was late for our K but we managed to extend it by ourselves! HAHHA(: Dinner at PS since I need to collect my "gifts". KFC increased their student meal price! I'm so sad okay! And we planned to have KFC buddy meal but the promotion ended! You know how sad I was when I know this?! Cos I imagined myself eating the chicken already! ): So ended up I ordered chicken to satisfy my wants. lol. And nice NPM accompanied me back to somerset cos I was waiting for my dad to fetch me! Such a kind soul right? (:

Strawberry Banana with white choco chips in it! :) Feels so healthy!

Woodland-ed yesterday (7th Jan)! Had lunch with shan at Freshness Burger though we wanted to eat Burger King but the shop was being replaced by freshness burger. Shan treated the meal, which is pretty decent, though slightly pricey! I had Pineapple Grilled Chicken while she had Bacon Omelet Burger. Ordered mashed potatoes that comes with salty sauce and some organic tea!(: Went walk walk in the mall and pasamalam before she headed off to work and I waited for my laopo ZY. Bought mushroom for bay family within a short time and we shopped at pasamalam! I bought a maxi dress (semi-maxi?) and she bought 2 at $13 each! Could have bought more dresses yesterday but due to the stall-attender's inflexibility, I didn't purchase anything from her, but from the other person who is kind and friendly! (: Headed to HL's house for the first time for steamboat! Damn nice and clean! She's definitely a xian qi liang mu! The table was nicely laid out and food were ready so were we! We started without cs sai cos he was freaking late! The soup was super sweet, all thanks to the sweet corn that Bay mama puts! By the way we really had a reunion dinner for "my family" cos all my laopos (ZY HL XQ) and my qing ren (Pam) turned up for steamboat!HAHA(: Nice chit chat with the girls and guy till 11pm! Hope to be invited to her house again, soon huh!

Holiday is loved

Hello Humans.

I shall update about how I've spent my holiday so far (:

Have been spending time with my family and friends. That's why I love holiday. Though it's gonna involve some monetary investment. LOL.

Watched fourth movie of the holiday with my dearest third sister! Thanks to my second sister who went for the standard charter 42km run that we have these 2 free tickets for Mission Impossible 4! Well, did I mention that I never realize how handsome Tom cruise is til I watch this movie? HAHA, okay it's more like he got the charisma! I never thought that the movie would be enjoyable or nice, and a ridiculous imaginary link of the movie was Jackie Chan in my mind. Mission Impossible- Jackie Chan, I think I'm cute. LOL. Anyway the movie was nice! We got comfortable seats too! Shall watch part 1, 2 and 3 if possible :D

And we wrote this before going for our movie! :D May everyone be safe,  healthy, happy, blessed with love and money and laughter. Students like me perhaps can achieve good results, adults who are working maybe can earn big bucks and old people, i mean elderly, enjoy their golden years at home! HAHA.

Had pizza hut lunch and KBox singing session with Adele before the movie! This girl came back to Singapore from Japan and she can't wait to see me! Ahem, NPM, if that's not the case just pretend you are eager to see me! Singing session was short 3 hours that I/we felt that we didn't manage to sing much songs ): Dinner at KFC and we walked to PS! Thanks girl from accompanying me while I was waiting for my sister :D

Somehow my sister and I learnt of a good lobang and we bought 2 cartons of Pink dolphin- a total of 48 bottles! It costs us.......

$10!!! $10 for 48 bottles, it's quite a steal, isn't it? :P Okay, I may turn into a pink dolphin soon with over dosage of pink dolphins. LOL, okay I'm exaggerating. But carrying these 2 cartons was a torture. ):


Of course, out with sister means good food too! I was in good mood and hence foot the bill!s!Okay, I'm not that nice la! More like I was the one with craving or the one who suggested them... Plus my sis is the one who pay for our online shopping.... So good food includes....

Marche (I love the crepe!) and Charles Brown (the Hawaii pizza is rather cheap consider its size. But it's not nice and surprisingly it's not fulling.lol).

And we cold-stoned!!! :D it's BERRY BERRY BERRY NICE! I think there're 3 types of berries, that's why it's berry berry berry nice? :P Finally I get to buy one and eat lots of it with my sister!

Went out with my family too! We were in town! Had short shopping with mama and she wanted to buy me a dress and a skirt! HAHA, so nice right? I must shop with her more often from now on then she wouldn't nag me from shopping cos she's the one who WANT to buy them for me :P HAHA, but she wanted, but haven buy for me la, so we'll wait and see.

Grandpa's birthday celebration at Tung Lok! Though I am closer to my grandma, I know my grandpa dote me very much. I think I've mentioned before that usually my grandparents will buy cake and stuff to celebrate my birthday. They are a very cute couple. HAHA.

The food are seriously nice! I was quite full that day. Think I could have eaten more if I wasn't feeling unwell! The chicken shark fin soup is very special. It's not like the normal shark fin soup outside. Instead it's more like chicken soup, in a good way. You can taste the freshness and sweetness of the meat and it goes.... yummy!

The duck is damn tender and I think I had 6-8 pieces of them :D The tofu wasn't to my liking, I only had half of it.

Coconut ice cream with hei luo mi! Nice but it got a durian taste! Which means it sort of weird? Cos how can coconut or hei luo mi comes with durian smell?! And my siblings came out with all the funny possibilities which made all of us laugh til stomache! (:

Yi Xin's 21st.

Finally it's yixin's birthday! She's the youngest among our JPS clique! Happy birthday to you yixin, though you're still a 20years old kid right now! HAHA. :D

 I actually like most of the photos taken that day! HAHAHAHHAHAH, I was joking to Shimin that I'm tian sheng li zhi, LOL. And I attended the celebration with eyeliner used! HAHA, I think i was too harsh that I drew it too thick! But never mind, it was a good try though (:

I love to be my JPS BFFs. It's like even though we didn't meet up for so long, the feel is still there. It's like so relaxing and we could joke with one another like how we used to in primary school. I seriously miss those catching time and freeze and unfreeze!

Birthday girl pretty pretty huh! And her bf made her a pretty pretty big birthday card! Oh ya, did I mention a twin in her party? Their name super cute! Chen xin and Chen yi aka chen xin chen yi! And I finally get to see yifang :D

 Meet up with pam, cs, yt, zy hl

Yt treated me mocacinno at Mac for a short meet up. Pam came and we chatted before heading to Causeway Point to meet ZY HL and CS. Oh ya YT, thanks for the lovely present from BKK! :D Hope you're enjoying your Malaysia trip right now (:

We had dinner meet up at Pizza Hut. Had some catching ups and some conversations were really funny! HAHA. And the last piece of Hawaii which I eyed for was taken by zy! HAHA so cute can!

And I received this cute pouch from my laopos! Presents from Taiwan! Love you girls! I've no idea what I'm going to use it for so for the time being it will be happily rest in my cupboard(:

We finally had a proper meet up after so long :D Went timbre and order pizzas which is quite yummy. And actually the place is not bad in the sense that it's not that expensive (around $13 per pax, depending on what you've ordered) and there's live band. I sort of like live band too, though all angmor songs. But the loud music is slightly unbearable. It's like my mind will wander and thought of some other random stuff in the loud music.  May or may not be a good place to have proper serious catch up cos talking after 9.30pm is difficult. Meet up soon again people, but i guess most probably it will be on 7th jan (:

Okay I know it's a long post, but one last thing- I'm so happy that the place I went in my China exchange in JC ain't that bad. As in this place call "qing ming shang he yuan" is quite famous! The painting or don't know what is having an exhibition at expo right now and I was feeling a bit happy that I went to the place before. LOL.

Okay that was kind of random.

that's all people, time to rest at home to nuah and do some stuff. I've been out too much and since no one wants to date me, that shall be my plan. HAHA.
