VROOOOM~ F1 with XQ

Vroom Vroom!!~ ~~~ 

Okay I know my post is kinda late, F1 heat is probably gone. But hey it’s still in my mind okay.

First I gonna thank my laopo for remembering me! HEE. Got to go to F1 for the first time thanks to her and SC (her bf) :D It was quite exciting even though I’m not F1 fans BUT knowing that I’ll be involved as a viewer/audience is definitely something that made me to look forward to it.

Meet up for dinner at Parco at Millennia Walk. It took us quite a while to locate the restaurant but fortunately we did in the end. It was a quiet place and we ordered tom yam bee hoon and yam bee hoon to share cos the two of us were sort of thinking between the two dishes! How cute we were to arrange dinner there cos we thought it would be somewhere near our F1 seats but unfortunately we had to take train and walk quite a distance before we reach the place.

Us finally here!

The noise was really loud and we could barely hear each other. XQ was thinking of getting ear-plug and I told her perhaps ear-piece will do. HEE I’M SO CUTE RIGHT?! Heng that XQ reminded me of that and I got mine free from Qatar Airline last year when we fly with them! They have a small pouch that consists of socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, earplug and what’s not. The socks damn comfortable and lasted me through my nights in Troyes (France). Back to topic, so we got earplugs and took some photos before reaching our seats. 

We bought snacks from Parco which really helped us through the night. I mean it’s better to snack on something and watch the race right? :P And add on a bit of chitchat sessions that’s interrupted by the vroooom noise.

So this is our view! I actually zoomed in a lot. We were sitting right at the back, second last row I think. But our seats are actually not bad cos it's at a turn so cars gonna slow down at the turn and we can see the cars more clearly than for them to speed pass! Read from newspaper just a day before the day I headed down to F1 that their usual speed for straight road can goes up to 400km/hr and they have to quickly slow down below 100km/hr at turns. How amazing huh?! It's like super ultra fast, like so damn dangerous!

So anyway, as we talk and didn't pay much attention to the race, we could still get hold of what's major things happening cos people would stand when something happened. For instance a car crashed at the turn and everyone got up and two of us just got up too. HAHA. Poor car.

We left before the race ended to get on time for the concert! Here's us with pretty background! 

Result was released when we were stationed at Padang. Check out the pretty fireworks that lasted for quite awhile!

And not forgetting the air and noise pollution caused by the fireworks.

We were surrounded by foreigners, either from Europe or USA and THEY. ARE. FREAKING. TALL... It felt so suffocating and I kind of disliked being surrounded by all tall human creature, WHERE IS MY FRESH AIR?! HAHA. Even though we were standing at maybe quite central, we could hardly see the stage and Rihanna cos these tall humans blocked our view.

Rihanna can really sing, even though most of songs that she sang were unknown to me. X: I thought I'm the only one but I'm not! Cos it was after don't know how many songs then someone at the back said "finally something we know!" HAHA. And... they were really high. They sang along and danced, really danceeeeee.

We left the crowd and joined SC outside Padang cos he was unable to get in and even if he could get in, it seems almost impossible to find us. So we stayed around till 12plus and left when the concert ends. I got slightly panicky by the large crowd getting home and since I've never been a late owl, I was quite worry about getting on the train. But phew, I managed to take the Green line and transferred to Red line without trouble! Heng I didn't take the Red line cos it's gonna take forever!

Two-Faced Pizza with Laopos

Hello Humans, 

Finally a meet up with my laopos weeks ago and we visited Two-Faced Pizza at Tiong Bahru!

Well, according to one of my laopos, it was named as two-faced pizza cos the coffee shop runs like a normal coffee shop in the morning, with stalls selling different stuff, but at night it turns to a café-like place that sells pizza. It wasn't too hard to locate the place if you know the way to Tiong Bahru Bakery or The Orange Thimble cos they are all along the same stretch! Just walk further down and you’ll see it. Oh yes, according to Bay, there’s a very famous stall selling yong tau foo. It must be really famous cos she repeated it N times. So do try it when if you’re a yong tau foo lover or around the area. HEE.

We wanted to have the table that’s nearer to the road, cos you know, like more feel. But too bad it’s reserved and we got ourselves an indoor seat. Ordered 2 pizzas and a pasta to share. I can’t help it but making the same statement throughout my dining session- it’s quite hard and dry. I think I repeated at least 5 times in the shop itself. The pizza tastes pretty… eh not bad? But the crust was really dry and it turned hard very fast, at least to me. Well, cos to Bay it wasn't that hard and dry. But we realized why it was so for Bay near the end of the dinner! Cos she ate lesser than me and ZY! HAHAHAHHAHA. Okay I’m kidding. Seriously Bay I’m kidding so please don’t be angry!

Oh, we also ordered truffle fries, which is a disappointment to me cos the fries turned soggy very fast, especially those at the bottom of the bowl. ): Bay played a huge part eating the fries so I have to give her credit, and maybe XQ cos it’s nearer to them. LOL. As for ZY, what a poor thing to have sore throat when we planned to have pizza that’s so dry X:

The lights in the coffee shop were very dim, and I was sleepy while eating despite having chats. X: Despite not-so-good food and the dim sleepy lights to make the place to have more feel, it’s great to spend time with my girls though it was a short meet up since all of us have things to busy the next day.

Bay said that her friend commented that we look alike here. Yes/No/don't know?

Anyway, can’t wait for our next meet-up that we have yet to plan. But we’ll definitely meet again (: 

Just a random reminder, it was rather hot during our visit. Partly because there’s no aircon and secondly I’m wearing a thick long sleeve knit top. LOL, it was raining super ultra-heavy in the morning and it was really cold! I guess I wouldn't be visiting it anytime soon cos the pizza didn't leave a good impression, so did the truffle fries.

Cafe hopping with xq [Letoile Cafe and Wimbly Lu Chocolate]

Hello Humans,

This post is gonna be on yummy food again! Yes I've been eating all the sinful sweet food, especially on this cafe-hopping day with XQ since most of the stuff we ate were starchy and desserts. FATTENING SINFUL FOOOODDDD, I think I'm gaining weight again ):

Cafe-hopping buddy of the day!

We have a list of cafes but we decided on Letoile Cafe and Wimbly Lu Chocolate as they are along the purple line. Cos since we'll be having the whole day for two cafes, it will be better for us to go cafes that are further from where we stay. We did think of exploring other parts of the purple line, such as walking around Puggol Park or something cos it's really somewhere that seems not bad to explore! But we'll save that to other days cos it was raining quite bad and XQ had something on that day.

As I've mentioned, it was raining on our date so it got a bit troublesome for us to nagivate our way. ): Meet up the girl at Farrer Park and we spent more than 30 minutes finding Letoile Cafe though it supposed to be like a 7 minutes walk. I was hoping that Goggle did not lie to me again and make us walk one big round. It didn't really lie to ask but somehow we just got lost. Our poor feets were all soaked in water when we finally reached the place. But anyway, the cafe is really quite easy to find and nice the MRT if you didn't get out at the wrong Exit.

Though we were quite sianjipua with our wet shoes and feet, I got to admit that I'm quite happy with the cafe! It's kinda like a peaceful and quiet place standing on a random Owen Road.

We didn't order much since we just wanna try some of their food and to look around and nuah around. So here's Banana Nutella Toast and Carrot Cake. We shared the food so we could try more but sad to say that XQ didn't eat much of the Carrot Cake cos it was too sweet for her. But as for me, I think the sweetness was still okay! HAHA, so I ate most of it :X We also order a pot of tea at $5.90 to share and it can be refilled! 2 food plus tea, we just lazed around and chat on random things despite us getting sleepy from our lunch and rain.

And it is a pretty cafe with pretty stuff, as can be seen from the photo above! Tables, sofa and all the stuffs make the place so nice to nuah. A place where you can really just laze around, along or with your friends to chit chat and munch on affordable food. Cakes looks not bad and the price seems acceptable but I've yet to try them. But I believe I'll be visiting them again so no hurry! HEE. Anyway the total bill was around $20.

My POV: I think I don't have to say much. Personally I love the place. Price range is sort of standard for cafe but some prices still acceptable eg tea. I also love where it is located, standing along a random street with less crowd on a weekday, sipping tea into your mouth, reading a book on hands or catching up with friends.

Operation hour: Mon-Fri 11am-10pm / Sat-Sun 9am -10pm (YES it's open on Monday!)
Nearest Station: Farrer Park, Exit D

P.S. I went there another time after a few days with my sister! HAHA, so did XQ with her friend. LOL. Will blog about it in another post! HEE.

So after hours of lazing around and got cheated that we could get cheap Golden Village tickets at City Square, we set off to Wimbly Lu Chocolate which is near Serangoon MRT. We gonna walk a bit from the station to the cafe but it was much easier cos the rain has stopped and somehow we got some directions already and hence didn't get lost. HEE.

We ordered Vegetarian Baked Rice and Larva Chocolate Cake since we had too much sweet treats and it's time for some savoury food! HAHA, and we have to try their chocolate since their name has "Chocolate" too! Okay that's what I'm saying only, we actually were thinking between chocolate tofu cake or something and larva chocolate and end up ordering the latter. Vegetarian Baked Rice was nice. It looks quite simple and plain but it's nice! You know some baked rice you eat and eat until don't really wanna eat cos it's too oily or 腻? It's totally not the case for this. I'm not sure what kind of cheese they use but we kind of like it. The rice, its ingredients and cheese were like good combination for something starchy, nice and simple yet nice. I think I'm repeating myself. So anyway, the larva chocolate cake was yummy too, but it's kinda small too! Inside was really soft. I guess inside was almost all liquid state of chocolate but I couldn't really remember.



Here's us with the background of the cafe! Pretty nice and we got ourselves a corner table which is kinda peaceful in the noisy cafe. HAHA. What's above us was a glass/transparent roof where you can check out what's happening outside! We also talked about it whether it's good to have one at home, HAHA. Didn't stay that long in the cafe, we were really tired and sleepy but decided to make a move before any rain comes. By the way the bill for two was $20.

MY POV: This cafe is located among those landed property, pretty interesting. The location wasn't difficult to find, if you never get lost. The food here are not bad. As for atmosphere wise, it's pretty not bad though it can be uite crowded and noisy. Seats are pretty limited too.

So all in all, we spent $20 each for cafe-hopping that day! Awesome date with XQ while she was having holiday! I have been eating nice food and visiting cafes cos people around me (e.g. sis and friend) wanna try out some cafes and so do I! But I realized my wallet/bank is getting from thin to thinner and me myself getting from fat to fatter so I guess I need to control a little bit already. HAIX.

But anyway, food is loved. How to resist you tell me?!

M&M Dates with Laopo ZY

Musical: The Phantom of the Opera

The distance and angle from my seat! Seems a bit slanted but it was okay!

The long awaited musical, which was supposed to be my first musical experience, was finally here on 25th August (Paiseh I know it's kind of outdated but bo-bian). To be honest, my excitement level was the highest when we made the purchase of the tickets. It then went on and off. HAHA, it was quite a hard time for us to search for the best seats and I can remember how heart-wrecking it was when someone bought the super best seats that we were eyeing.

Anyway, it was a threesome date with ZY and her younger sister. We were kinda excited in some sense and I wondered how great our seats would be since our tickets are so expensive. And it did not disappoint us cos we were really kinda near the stage! As in we get to see the performers' facial expression (though it may not be those super clear kind but still can see I think). The stage was a grand one and they even cover it up so as to prevent people from taking photos of it -.- The performers can really sing, and some were like oh-my-god super high pitch! I was lost here and there but I felt so happy when I hear familiar music/songs! HEE. We were also quite curious of whether the music was played by an orchestra or via CD or whatever cos it was  really fantastic! We went into the crowd in front of the stage after the performance and saw the band! :D It was like damn awesome. If only I can play an instrument! And I can't help it but to confess that Christine's childhood guy friend (aka her bf) looks so good-looking! HAHA. It was a pity that we couldn't find the poster of the musical for memory ):

Movie: The Purge

The other M date with ZY was MOVIE!

I've finally have a movie date on a random Tuesday night.

Thanks ZY for reading my post and accompany me to do things randomly! HEE. So anyway, sometimes it's good to have a cinema near your house and when it is not really crowded. I mean there wasn't a lot of people buying tickets and all. So ZY read about my post on Movie Mood and she hinted me to date her out, which I did by PM-ing her. So yes, I dated her. As I was afraid that we can't get good seats should we buy the tickets too late, I reached at 6.20pm for our 7.30pm movie. To my surprise, there were barely some taken seats. Also, I realized that it's good to have movie date on Tuesday if you have a passion card cos you'll get to have a free combo- a pop-corn and a drink. *Cheapo mode on*

So anyway, the movie was quite a short one- 85 minutes. But it goes straight to the point instead of beating around the bush. It started a few hours right before The Purge and end right after The Purge. The Purge is a legalized time frame from 7pm-7am on a day for people (i.e. the Americans) to do something like killing, fighting, burning or whatever they like, to release the beast side of them and to cleanse their souls. In other way, the country will be "benefited" from The Purge by having low crime rate, low unemployment rate and maybe some other stuffs that I didn't really catch. For those victims, their loss were seen as a scarification for the better of the society.

This movie made me pondered for a while for some issues. It raised issues of humanity, social issues etc.

1. The Purge should be supported as it helps the progress of the country. For instance, a safe nation with low unemployment rate and low crime rate. However, all the figures are so unreal cos hello, people might just wait for that day of the year to do all the evil crimes. In fact this idea wasn't really realistic. Imagine there are some many people being killed, the employees and the employers. How can a workplace/organization/shop function properly the next day? For example, a lost of a employer or a leading figure could risk the functioning of the company. What happen to the destroyed infrastructures?

2. Do we have the rights to end the lives of anyone, especially those of lower social class just because they are homeless or different skin colours? This was highlighted in the movie and it was quite sad to admit that some people do think so that the lives of the homeless or lower social class indeed have less worth as they have lesser contribution in the society and in fact they were seen as burden.

3. Should I be one of the people witnessing the victim (e.g. the Black in the movie), will I try to save him? He was begging for help. He's innocent but he became a prey of the night. Who is he for me to save and to risk the lives of my family? I don't know what kind of decision I will actually make. To watch him die since it's better to protect your loved ones first or to save a life. It seems that kids have more empathy towards the victims and hence the son helped him. Yet standing from the viewpoint of his dad, what he was doing was just to protect his family. HMM, so honestly speaking, I guess I'll do the same as the dad, being selfish, protective and heartless. Though it's gonna sound cruel but I think more fault lies in those who wanna to kill that man, though unwillingness to lend a helping is kind of immoral too...

4. If I'm the dad, will I hand over the Black to those people who wanted to kill him? I think my stand is already quite obvious for point 3 already X: But humanity can be inspired or reminded even in the nick of time (:

5. If I'm the mum, will I kill those neighbours who nearly killed my whole family? I'm a petty person and I don't think I'll be able to face those fake people in the near future and moreover they might just come back for revenge on The Purge next year. 斩草除根，免有后患。OMG I sounds damn cruel again. But it's really like I wouldn't provoke you if you don't provoke me right? HMM, humans....

So yeah, the movie is pretty not bad. Those points above are just some random thoughts of mine. To me The Purge is something lack of moral and is a flawed activity. Does it really cleanse one's soul by doing all these stuff? Does the society and country really benefit from it? Sorry I don't think so.Maybe it set us thinking that violent doesn't solve the problem? Maybe.

So that was it for my M&M date with ZY. Can't think of a list for ZY to date me yet. We'll see how :)

Birthday celebration is just another excuse to feast!

Hello Humans,

As the title says it all, my birthday celebrations were all about eating and eating! HAHA. Even my sister couldn't tahan me and asked me how many birthday do I have and when is my birthday. X: But oh well, it's like one of the best excuse to feast, apart from maybe CNY. lol.

1) Tim Ho Wan with family!

So lunar birthday marks the feasting period. HAHA. Gonna queue since it was lunch time and we took an hour to queue. They will need every guest to be present in order to allocate you a seat and we have quite a big number of 8 pax so we gonna wait for big table (aka more seats) and those groups with 3 or 4 or even 2 went ahead before us before there are seats for them.

Check out their menu! It's only 2 pages only. Also, look at the amount we food we ordered. I think it's quite scary to tell people that we ordered 30 plates of them. But it's really okay! As in everyone will be full and all, especially when my grandparents don't eat much and we have to eat their shares. LOL

Some of the food of the day. I love the hot-from-oven BBQ charsiew bun! Cos it's hot and crispy though it's like the combination of normal char siew bun and polo bun. I can't really recall how the food taste like now, but overall I think they are okay okay. You can try it at least once and decide it yourself. HAHA. According to my fading memory, their food are quite soft and piping hot. But anyway we spent an hour eating, which is kinda a bit rush but the speed that they are serving the food was quite fast and the space is actually quite cramp.

桂花糕 or something. This really reminds of me those ancient time where the queens like to enjoy dessert in their 宫殿. lol. There's not much to talk about after our lunch at Tim Ho Wan cos we simply just walk a bit in town before heading home. lol.

2) Hatched

My very first time having brunch and my first time being here at Hatched! It wasn't in our plan cos we were planning to go Food for Thought and walk around Botanical Garden and enjoy all the scenery and probably visiting some museums after that. But all thanks to the haze, we changed our plan to Tiong Bahru Cafe and another last minute change to Hatched just right before our train reaches Buona Vista!

Hatched is pretty easy to find since it's located near the train station. Check out what we have ordered- Sir Benedict (ordered by me; bottom right) is quite a small portion of brunch, and Big Breakfast (i made up this name cos I can't recall what 117 ordered!; top left, haha) which is a pretty big serving with bread, pototoes, eggs, bacons and a pot of tea. Catched up with each other, but 117 did most of the talking, mostly sharing her pre-taiwan trip etc. HEE, you wanna excite me to go travel is it?! Back from toilet with a pleasant surprise cos this 117 paid the meal and I was still thinking that she was joking! SO MUCH THANKS AND LOVE TO YOU HUH!

And we went walk walk shop shop to get some of her pre-taiwan shopping trip done. Was kinda hungry after wandering around Bugis street and tatah~ My first try for Black Balls located at Bugis+! I would say they are not bad but they are not really that fantastic to me leh :/ We can't really taste each of the ingredient as they have undergone some processes to make them more chewy but I would definitely love their original tastes and textures. But anyway, tastes is something which is really subjective. If not, how could they open 10+ outlets in Taiwan in just 1 year right. HAHA.


3) Senki Japanese Restaurant

After our first driving lesson on 24th June, Shan and I had some mini celebration for my birthday by eating Japanese ala-carte buffet! Bought this voucher online long time ago and finally we got to redeem it! Hee. But anyway, we order this plate of sashimi to try since we rarely have the chance to do so and even if we have, it would probably be too expensive to order. Unfortunately, it wasn't to our liking and we prefer cooked fish. HAHA. I would say I don't have the taste to appreciate such a dish and we even thought we tasted fishes from sea and even fish tank. Ignorant us.

These are the food that we ordered! Out of that 6 bacons sausage and fried dumplings I had 5 for each cos Shan was too full and it's quite oily lah. But omg buffet leh, how can I not stuff myself with food right?! Happy Happy me :D


4) Jem

No food for this part since I didn't take any photo of the food. We had ramen at Jem and had a short meet up of 3 hours on the day before our birthday. HAHA. Gonna jot it done cos it's the first time the two of us meet up just right before birthday.

5) Peach Blossom

So it was finally the actual day for my birthday. HAHA. Dated with my mum to have some dimsum using our 50% off voucher! But ahem, after the discount it's still quite expensive leh. But luckily the food is nice and we even had take-away! Met up with Shan our lunch and we headed down for some movie.

Miracle in Cell No. 7

We didn't really plan to watch this but too bad the movie "The Hunt" (which we wanted to watch) was no longer airing and "Now you see me" doesn't have any good seats left. But heng, this movie wasn't that bad and in fact it was quite funny and we teared quite a lot too. 

How can birthday celebration be complete without free icecream from Swenson right?! HAHAHHAHAHA. Happy birthday to myself. Yes finally I'm 23. Okay not really finally but yeah.

Slight changes to wish list since I'm no longer schooling. So sad huh. But anyway, we had another dinner with my dad and brother since we only had this icecream and chicken wing after our movie. lol.

6) Carpenter and Cook

Woot, strike out the first cafe to visit on our list! It was actually quite easy to find, to think it's somewhere near the place where my sis's friend live. haha. Anyway, it was a tea time session.

Food we ordered! Basically they only sell these kind of food, and they aren't cheap. We spent around $13 per pax by ordering 3 tarts, 1 scones and 1 pie (don't know what is it called) to share. It would be good if you wanna nuah, spend some time with a cup of drink and a piece of tart and music/book/stare into blank. But it can be quite crowded.

So after having our tea break, we went to Bukit Timah Plaza and Beauty World to have some quick walk to hunt for more food but we settled down at Bukit Timah Market for fried prawn noodle, satay beehoon, sugar cane juice and veg pasta. Hee, it's been really long since the four of us having hawker food together. The last time was probably when we were in secondary school. Good old days.

Okay, this pretty sums up all the fattening feasting for Birthday celebration. Shall think of other valid reason to feast after birthday. LOL.
