I'm a happy girl on v-day

Hello Humans

I'm happy cos:
1) Received val-day present from bbdc that I pass my BTT
2) Pass final evaluation test on first attempt (without any revision! But, got try the practices lah)
3) Completed 5km run within 40mins and adds up to 6.3 within 55mins (well, that's for yesterday but I'm still happy)
4) Instead of 2day cny break, I'm having 8day cny break. *Clap clap* But not much difference actually.

Okay maybe these aren't really great or hard but whee, self-encouragement is good and important (:

It's a bit sian diao that FTT is on early April, that will certainly need more revision thing since it seems harder than btt and we didn't revise before our evaluation test today.

And happy valentines day people! ♥

So what if we're lonely souls on this day right, it can still turn out to be a good one!

Stay over at grandma's place

Hello Humans,

Last week is pretty much an eventful one. (:

For the first time, I stayed over at my paternal grandma's house! HAHA, Shan and I stayed over from Thursday afternoon and left on Saturday morning, and we helped out with our grandma with making abacus yam thing and soon ban, both are Hakka dishes actually. Actually we have been saying that we want to learn how to make these dishes for years and we finally did it! Oh well, we didn't really learn the whole thing cos grandma already prepared the liao (ingredients) before hand just before we reach on Thursday. So... we only learnt half the course.

P.S: This post will mainly of pictures.

So early in the morning on Friday, grandma woke up at 4 plus I guess. But the two of us woke up at 6 plus X: When I was awoke, the yams were already ready! It should take quite long to cook the yam, to make sure it's super soft before proceeding. So from there, I gauged that my grandma woke up at 4 plus!

That's 6 or 7 yams, together with 6 or 7 packets of starch powder.

And they have to be mixed when the yams are still hot!

Grandma mixing them together. It was super hot and dad even bought glove for us but too bad it can't be used. And so, we knead it into a dough, make it into rolls, break them into small pieces and then press them gently to get the shape of abacus.

And this is how they looks like!

More and more. We made quite a lot in order to meet the demand for CNY. HAHA.

And that is our breakfast! *loves*

So after eating, back to work! These are all made with love by me, shan, grandma and aunt! HAHA(: it's time to boil them! :D

Joke of the day: I forgot that we were making abacus and we should press two sides of it with one finger each. Instead, I pressed one side with one finger and the other side was pressed against two relaxed fingers. So haha, the nicely shaped abacus that looks like red blood cell (on the right) is the correct one, and the one on the left, is made by yours truly! HAHA. Grandma and aunt was laughing WITH (note it's "with" not "at") me that they have never seen such abacus before and I am truly creative cos instead of abacus, it looks like 元宝. HAHA, I agree much and super proud of my creation. Hmmm.

After boiling, we need to cool them down in order to store them in fridge. So shiok right, fans aiming at them on a hot Friday morning.

And next after making abacus, time to do soon ban!

Actually the steps for both making soon ban and abacus ARE THE SAME. they are like cousins, same same but different. (:

And this is the liao (ingredient) that I was saying. For abacus that you see above, it's not the final product cos it should be stirred fried together with these ingredient, and that will be done on this Sunday (: As for soon ban, these liao will be wrapped inside the skin! If you're curious of what makes up the liao, i can only remember that there are 豆干,鱿鱼,猪肉,香菇, 豆干丝 etc.

the aroma of yam reminds us of yam paste!!

happy and sweaty shan!

HAHA, cute grandma

cute pose huh!

they working hard while and i... busying with photo taking. :D

我要把你们按扁扁!

so innovative way to have the circle shape! don't need buy those circle cutter! ;D

after cutting out the shape, put the liao.

And then press the edge before steaming! :D

Everything was done by 3plus, so imagine if my grandma were to do it alone, I guess she will split it into two days. And the process was quite tiring where we need to use quite a lot of forces. So we rested before heading to JP for a quick walk while aunt and grandma stayed at home. HAHA.

And this is what we saw on our way. lucky you, you got a lucky shoot. joke that maybe only my sister will know.

And after we were back from our quick JP trip at around 6pm, hello little guest! :D

He's only 5 months old and he's super guai! No crying or whatever, totally not scare of stranger! HAHA. and he let us hug him despite it's the first time seeing us! :D

By the way he's grandson of grandma's neighbour. And he must see my grandma everyday at around that timing. So cute right? :D

Okay, here's my grandma for the last photo. She's playing with this while watching TV. HAHAHAHAH.

And so, this is how I spent my stayover at my grandma's place. We have so much more to learn for abacus and soon ban. not knowing the liao is totally cannot make it to make the dishes. Anyway i hope i wouldn't receive complaints on Sunday regarding my cute abacus for being out of shape or whatsoever.

Tuesday is here again, tomorrow ):

CNY Chinatown Tour 2013

Hello Humans,

CNY is coming in 6 days' time! (:

Shan, Dad and I usually will go Chinatown to walk walk during pre-CNY period to get some CNY feel and to look for some goodies. But this year, we didn't managed to get much stuff cos there isn't much sales and things that caught our eyes. Oh and the cny feel wasn't that strong yet, guess we went "too early" but it's good cos at least it's not so crowded (though squeezing through the crowd can contribute to CNY feel too though,HAHA). Anyway this year, we have one more person joining us!

And tatah~ that's my brother. HAHA. We had supper at this dessert shop called Chinatown Mei Hong Yuen Dessert. Food are slightly pricey where 1 bowl of dessert (such as almond paste, black sesame pastes etc) costs around $3.00. But anyway, their steamed carrot cake is nice and it was difficult to find seat even when the shop is closing in 15 minutes.

Carrot cake, 糯米鸡 and 猪肠粉.

I guess these are the 12 zodiac animals that we can find along the road.

Scary pork legs!!

Some random store.

Shan and I wishing you all happy Chinese New Year!

Huat ahhh!

Third week of final sem

Hello Humans,

it's week 3 for school. That's kinda fast.

The feeling of sianness came every Monday night, knowing that I have to go school on Tuesday was quite ): I have 6 days of weekends and 1 day of weekday, HAHA. But don't be jealous, cos having a one-day week is making me sian in terms of going to school. But I'm happy that I can nuah the rest of the week. Nuahing is one of my favourite but that's certainly not the only thing that I do.

Anyway, will be starting interview sessions soon for my FYP! Okay, I mean I've started asking people when they are free and stuff like that. Thanks to people who are willing to help. :D Of course I'm still on the midst of lookinig for more people while trying to finalize those nterview questions. I hope my questions wouldn't be too stupid or weird. Pardon me my friends, I'm not good in all these :X

On a side note, happy that I managed to run 5.5km yesterday. Not a big deal to you but yes for me,HAHA. Second session of pilates in school today and NPM is not coming due to her dinner date. Hopes it will be good and it wouldn't get too much of pilates sores!

Hello Humans,

Final semester as an undergraduate started this week. LAST SEMESTER, which came way too fast!):

I was considering over two soci modules (1. Sexuality and 2. Power Politics) and I wasn't quite sure which I'm going to take. I'm fine with any of these topics, any of these professor, having to come school for one or two days (just that Monday wouldn't be a "free" day D: ) is fine for me too. But to be frank, sexuality's course seems attractive cos the kind of readings, movie that Genaro going to give us to read/watch, and I'm good with doing stuff myself (as in assignment). But we got to buy books that gonna cost extra money and I should I need to change course I'll need to get to YanJia. As for power politics, the course that I've already registered for,  it seems more challenging cos the readings are eh, some seems to be quite dry and there's pair/group work and an innovative assignment. But not to deny there's interesting element (i hope). And NPM is taking it and we can have our lunch tour in between our lecture and tutorial! Hmmm I'm still considering but somehow, I think I may just stick with power politics. Last sociology module, hope it will turn out okay.(:

Anyway, I have this sudden urge to try all these places! Food look so yummy!! :D

2013 resolution

Hello humams,

Happy 2013. Hopes that it has been good for you so far. As for me, it still pretty awesome since im just back from my short get away from bangkok with my laopos (; it was the first time for our foursome trip and i hope more to come in our life. (:

And here's a list of new year resolution for 2013!

1. graduate smoothly in months time
That means all the best for my FYP and hopes that it wouldn't turn out too bad. Also, i hope to at least maintain my cGPA of 3.8 though it is a bit tough.  Hmm. so I'll just try huh.

2. Good job upon graduation
hopes i'll have clearer mind of what i want to work as before graduate and land myself in a decent job with decent pay.

3. Get my driving licence
Registered myself with bbdc last dec and hope i can get my driving licence by end of this year! If i can get it by june, that would be one of the best birthday present. Haha. If not, I dont mind it as belated present. To be frank, im scare of driving on road so wish me good luck (:

4.Know the basic of ukulele
ukulele classes will be starting soon in late jan! Hopefully by end of this year i can learn the basic of it and perhaps play a few songs!

5. stay healthy and fit
i kind of like the healthier lifestyle of going to the gym for once or twice a week though there isnt any weight lose yet. hopefully in year 2013, i can maintain this healthy lifestyle with a healthier and fitter and slimmier body! I have not lose any weight that i gained after im back from my europe trip and for this year,  i hope i can aim for 55-58kg. Haha i know it is super ultra difficult but hopefully getting back to my weight last year will be okay. People say aim for the start so u'll land on  the moon so see how huh.

6. travel
Travel is really a luxury and i know ive travelled quite a lot last year for my europe trip. Indeed it was a great experience to fulfil my university to do wish list and though ive been to a number of places, most of them are just touch and go. I think ive covered less than 3% of europe but of course that is better than nothing (; so in 2013, a year of student and working life. Somehow i hope to have a break in between where i get to travrl a bit. It can be work and travel or voluntary trip to developing countires. Actually Ive thought about it last time but didnt really think about it. Maybe it's the time. Haha. Anyway I was thinking if voluntary work should be done in the local or overseas cos flying to the country is like wastting the money :/ maybe all these will become my grad trip huh. Lol, but seriously i don't know yet and Grad trip is still unknown :/

7. better skin complex
Ive no idea what happened to me but my skin was damn jalat in 2012. I mean i don't hv a good skin to start with but it got worsen and i was so unhappy with it. So  please give me back my not so good but not that bad skin in year 2013

8. remain happy and be happy

9. Still waiting for my 等久久的人。

That's all.

I know a lot of typo for this post. But tying with Hp isn't easy and I sort of get frustrated and hence not editing much :/

School's coming. Back to student life yo.

Reflection for 2012

Hello humans,

I was hesitating whether or not to blog since my lappy is currently in hospital and I can only blog with my Hp. But anyway since it's the last day of 2012, maybe I should just do a short reflection of this year.

Come to think about it, year 2012 is considered a good year and it's not really just another year for me since everything went rather smoothly. (:

In year 2012, i got to travel abroad for good 3 months. It was overall a good and enjoyable trip though it wasn't where I've planned to go last year. I didn't make any friends with super good bonds but at least I get to know some new people and get to travel with Adele and sis. France (troyes and Paris), Belgium (Bruges and Brussels), Amsterdam, Barcelona, Italy (Rome and Venice), Switzerland (Zurich, Geneva etc) and Germany (Berlin, Munich) etc, places i left my foot steps and become part of my memory. Months of frequent movement and break away from familiar places and people. I don't think i've gained much independence but it was really a memorable trip. Perhaps I should have another blog entry about it. Haha. Blessed to be able to travel, and back to Singapore happily and healthily. A good experience indeed.

Academic wise.. so far so good, I'm more concerned for upcoming semester. School have been okay and expectations are more or less met-it's more like I reap what I sow (human do hope to receive more harvest than we expected, dont we?)Though AY2012-2013 semester 1 (the semester that just past)'s result wasnt of what ive expected, it was still okay considered okay since my cGPA remains the same at 3.80. Honestly speaking I was hoping for at least a B+ especially since I've no bad feeling after doing the papers and the modules overall seem okay. Oh well, too long nv see a B, last time was for HS301.but nvm, what I should worry more is next semester if I wanna maintain my cGPA. Tell me how I can achieve a A- for my last soci module and a B for my Fyp (I've planned to get a B- for Fyp cos i dont want to have any Cs -.-). Perhaps too much of nuahing and working hard only when I have to makes it reasonable for the grades. Okay, hopefully I wouldn't nuah too much next semester and I supposed myself not to. If I nuah, please don't remind me about Fyp, please just let me do it and try not to jio me out too often. I hope I will just progress at my own pace and hopefully I'll get it started with the start of the coming semester. I know I shouldn't be so concern of the grades. I know grades are not everything. I know I'm secured either a second lower confirm plus chop. I know education is not just about obtaining good grades and work life is much beyond what we have learnt and seen and experience in school. But it's more like a self motivation and self fulfilment. I know I'm socialized into such a culture of being so grade-minded and ive choose to continue living with it cos given the fact that ive nothing in mind of where to go it's still better to obtain better grades since my people skills isn't that good. Grades is not everything but everything some jobs position do look at degree and it may shapes the type of job scope and opportunities given. oops I'm ranting too much, in a reflection post. Haha. Shun bian la.

Seems like my life only revolves around school and family.

Actually it was a year I went out and spent more time with my family I think. eldest sister got married, the first wedding in our family (:also I'm glad that all of us stays healthy and happy (;

Year 2012, a good year. May the bad, if too bad stay behind, and probably the good shall beeextended to 2013

Year 2013, a year with many great changes and I hope I'll be able to handle. It will be good, for all of us. We all gonna be happy healthy livings (:

Resolution for 2013 will be out soon.

Holiday!

Hello Humans,

It's late December now and I am enjoying my holiday after my second last final examination in NTU. Yes second last, how fast right? Can't imagine next year when I only left with one and only paper for my final final examination. HAHA, don't need to countdown already. I'm a bit concerned that I'll be even more nuah as compared to this semester but I supposed that I'll be quite busy next semester with my FYP. So please don't assume that I'll be super free with a one-module semester okay? :P This time round really have to do work on FYP already cos FYP draft supposed to be submitted by early March. Hence strictly speaking, I'll only have less than 1.5 months for me to do everything given the fact that I'm nuahing (and intending to nuah my December away) and BKK trip and CNY gonna take away quite some time away too. And what's worse is that my laptop is sick and crashed and heng that my documents are saved in google.doc! But still, poor lappy ): And so irritating that I can't upload my remaining Europe trip photos which I intended ):

Anyway, final papers for Gender and Population are okay and I'm very sure that I wouldn't fail. HAHA, cos it's never easy to fail, unless you're really power or it's something really !@#$%^. I would say I don't have any or much bad feeling regarding my papers. Either I'm getting pro or I'm letting go. I think is the latter huh. HAHA, but anyway I can tell you which is it on 28th Dec when the result is out. :P

Shall blog again when I have the time and mood.

Till then.

Loves,
Bean.
